I would love to visit your school and talk about the writing life.  I also available for book fair signings, book clubs and library events.  Please e-mail me at wendy (dot) shang (at) hotmail (dot) com for more information.  Here are some examples of talks I give - I'm happy to tailor them to fit your needs and goals.

"Your presentation was the best ever - encouraging, inspiring to the children and specific about how they need to think about writing and editing.
It was truly a memorable day at Haycock."

- Barbara Bosworth, Reading Teacher, Haycock Elementary

The Editing and Publishing Process

This talk will take students through the many steps from original draft to published books, including "big idea" edits, copyediting, galleys and advanced reader copies.  Students will come away with the message that writers improve by becoming better re-writers.

Seven Hints for Young Writers

Designed to inspire young writers, this talk will describe practices that all writers use to improve and expand their writing.  Students will learn about daily writing, sources for ideas and outlets for writing.

Reading Like a Writer

What do writers look for when they read?  This session will focus on excellent examples of character, setting, voice, point of view and description from a broad range of books.  Students will be given tools to analyze what makes great stories work.
